In 2023, the Picerne Family Foundation awarded me an Artist Outreach Grant, through which I brought a series of family art workshops to local homeless and domestic violence shelters. My goal was to add a little fun to some very stressed-out lives–to create a space in which shelter moms and their kids could fantasize, relax and create side by side.

Out of respect for everyone’s privacy, I am showing the families’ creations on this page, but not their faces. I am grateful to Aviva Family and Children’s Services (aviva.org) and 1736 Family Crisis Center (1736fcc.org) for allowing me into their shelters, where I met and worked with some amazing moms, kids and staff.
