The Horses

Some of my best friends, both real and imaginary, are horses.  As a city kid, I grew up dreaming about them, writing poetry about them and longing to have one of my own.  At the age of forty, while fighting cancer, I decided that life is short and childhood dreams deserve to come true.  I leased a Tennessee Walking Horse mare and happily rode her for many years.

Horses represent a lot of things to me:  strength, physical beauty, and a gentle common sense that we humans often lack.  Simply put, I am at peace around horses.  If there’s such a thing as a spirit animal, the horse is probably mine.
